Host family!
Letter from host family::
Hallo Jessica,
I want t give you some information about our family.
My name is Daniela, actually it is Maria Daniela, but very few would call me with my full name.
I am 46 years old and I am married with two daughters.
I am a teacher at the Italian Middle School, I teach children with special needs which could range from children with learning disabilities- such as dyslexia- to children with severe handicaps.
I could teach English as well, but the Italian school system for recruiting teacher is really crazy and complicated, I will try to explain you how it works when you are here.
I work 18 hours a week in the morning plus a couple of days in the afternoon when we have briefings, meetings, parents conference etc.. Next year I will work for 12 hours a week, so I hope to have more time for my family.
My husband is an engineer and,at present, works for a company in Bologna, so he is away for the week and comes back for the week ends. Bologna is a nice city in central Italy, and we will probably have the chance to go and visit it.
He also travels a lot. He will be in the USA in September, he should be leaving on Sept. 8th, just in time to come, meet and pick you up at the Railway station in Milan on Sept. 7th- is this the date you are due to arrive? When exactly are you leaving ?
My two daughters are called Letizia and Lucia.
Letizia is 13 years old and goes to the Middle School. Lucia is 9 years old and still goes to the Elementary school.
Letizia likes dancing and listening to music, she will write you what kind of music she likes best. She likes going out with friends, but she is not allowed to go out in the evening.
Lucia likes gymnastics, she used to do artistic gymnastics but she has decided she will start another sport next year, may be swimming or synchro swimming, but she also wants to do breakdance……
My daughters can speak English so they will write to you as well.
We live in a place called Busto Arsizio. It is North West of Milan, so this is an industrial area, but not far from Busto Arsizio there are some nice places like Lake Maggiore and Lake Como, or Milan itself with its beautiful cathedral.
Busto Arsizio has around 80.000 inhabitants and there are some facilities like two cinemas, two theatres, some sports buildings etc.
We live in an apartment near the city (or town?) center. The school you will be going to is in the
center, you can walk to it in ten minutes. I talked to the school vice principal, and he said that the fact that you do not know Latin is not a big issue.
I am including some photos of the family.
Hope to hear you from you soon.

22 days!!
hey everyone! i figured since i made this today, i might as well post something. I leave in 22 days! While i'm gone i'll be posting my whereabouts and fun stories on here, as opposed to attempting to reach everyone by mass email or facebook. Feel free to write back, I'd love to know what everyone is up to while i'm gone. I'll try to write as much as possible, but it probably will only be once a week. Official going away party information:
Open House at my house on the 24th from 1-5.
we'll have food, and i think i'll just sit outside, eat and say goodbye to everyone?
I don't actually leave until the 3rd of september, but i need to get used to not seeing everyone.
So hopefully i'll see everyone before i leave!
